Work Zone Scheduling Problem in the Urban Traffic Networks

Abstract A significant part of highway and street congestion is produced by work zones. Depending on the type construction and/or rehabilitation activity, capacity could be significantly decreased, or completely closed. The zone generates traffic delays in where maintenance performed. Additionally, additional neighboring streets, since many drivers change their routes. There are numerous possible schedules. total travel time all network users highly depends chosen zones schedule. Work scheduling problem has a natural nested structure that requires to modeled as bi-level problem. We considered objective function upper level, which we try minimize, represents users. Relations lower help us compute User Equilibrium flows. proposed solution based combination Integer Programming heuristic assignment algorithm. output developed model consists start each zone. Sioux Falls benchmark used illustrate procedures achieved performances.
